In today’s music scene, there are a lot of artists that you simply cannot group into one genre. LA-based musician Ghost Loft is most certainly a prime example of this. With hip-hop like drum samples, and electronic like melodies to back the addictive and catchy vocals, it’s easy to fall in love with his sound.
The refreshing originality of all the tracks on his SoundCloud sets Ghost Loft apart from many artists. While some of his fans have compared him to The xx, in my own personal opinion there really is no other artist like him. From the first thirty seconds of listening to my favorite of his tracks, ”Seconds“, I couldn’t help but keep repeating it over and over. Even when I wasn’t listening to it I caught myself humming the tune in my head as I went about my day. After venturing into the rest of the Ghost Loft repertoire, I realized that each track has its own feel while keeping to that Ghost Loft sound quickly came to adore.
Overall, words cannot do justice to Ghost Loft so I’ll have to let the music do the better part of the explaining for me. The sheer originality and beauty of his songs made me feel like this is an artist that both needs and deserves to be promoted in anyway possible. Hopefully his fan base will continue to grow and we can expect some kind of a release before the end of the year so we can feed our addiction. Word from the man behind the music is: we should look for some more remixes to be dropping as well as a live show he is working on.
