Happa – Secrets

Remember when you found out how old Skrillex was? I remember when a few friends told me they were going to see a Porter Robinson show in San Diego a few years ago, and how he had to fly back the next day to take his High School midterm. At least for me, hearing about the success of these young producers was both inspiring and depressing. On one hand, if some kid with a laptop can do it, anyone can, right? But on the other hand, these kids are accomplishing more by the time they’re legally allowed to drink in the US than a lot of us will in a lifetime.

At the time I heard that Porter Robinson story, he was 17—Just around the end of high school, time to start facing the real world. Just about old enough to go to clubs and start using that world-famous DJ cred to drop panties by the truckload.

Now lets meet Happa. The Leeds-based house and techno producer may not be playing the genre of music that sells out huge shows the way electro house is doing these days, but the fifteen year old house and techno producer is nothing short of a prodigy. He just started producing two years ago, but has already started turning some major heads, including the UK’s Queen of the Underground Mary Anne Hobbes, who recently featured his guest mix on her weekly XFM show.

This unreleased clip from his Soundcloud is just a taste of this arsenal. How a kid who isn’t even old enough to get into a club can be making tracks this good is beyond me. I mean fifteen. FIFTEEN!

I may be a little jealous.
