Since Purity Ring‘s formation in 2010, the two-member band consisting of Corin Roddick and vocalist Megan James have dominated the blogosphere. With every release, they have gained near universal acclaim, and as a result, left many anxiously awaiting their upcoming debut album. Now that “Shrines” is mere weeks away, due out July 24, the duo have unveiled their second, all-new music video.
The video for “Fineshrine” offers a vision of somewhere between a dream and reality. Video director Young Replicant does a perfect job matching up the visuals with Megan James’ dark sung vocals and grotesque lyrical imagery. Then matching up with Corin Roddick’s beats, laying on a foundation that can only be followed up by Megan’s hazy illustrations of mysterious worlds. Bruised, sliced, and stitched bodies, contrasting with clear, crystalline skies. Wonderful editing. Emotive, surrealist art direction. Lovely to see the evocative track finally brought to life with such stunning visuals.
